Syedena Hazrat Ghulam Ali Al-Hussaini Peernagari (A.S.) is recorded as the twenty-ninth generation. Historical research identifies Syed Ghulam Ali as the son of Syed Shah Wali Zafarabadi. He came to Mednapur, married into a local saintly family, and later settled with his bride in a village in the Arambagh area of Hooghly. His reputation as a great pir became so closely associated with the place that it came to be known as Pir Nagar.

The historical account describes him as a great pir, meaning a spiritual guide, and also as a prolific writer. Among the works associated with him, Irshadut Talebin is identified as the most famous. Sahapedia’s timeline of the Sufis of Bengal places Hazrat Ghulam Ali, died 1804, at Jaunpur/Pirnagar, Arambagh, Hooghly.
